Ever wondered why when following a diet and exercise plan your weight just doesn’t budge or the food you ate just make you feel blah? Some put it down to a ‘detox’ effect of toxins being eliminated or make excuses for their bodies adjusting to a ‘healthier’ diet. But in fact, the diet plans themselves might just not be the right fit for you. Let’s find out a little bit more about why.

Foods are processed differently by different people. Meal suggestions in fad diets or plans are created to cater to a calorie restriction and in some cases, avoidance of specific food groups or nutrients. Some put it down to a ‘detox’ effect of toxins being eliminated or make excuses for their bodies adjusting to a ‘healthier’ diet. But in fact, the diet plans themselves might just not be the right fit for you. Let’s find out a little bit more about WHY.

There’s now an advancing innovation in matching foods specific to our genes called Nutrigenomics. It is a science that can tell us how and which nutrients our bodies interact with most efficiently and least efficiently, to allow a personalised eating plan to get faster and better results that last. By knowing the specific combination of nutrients your body’s genes work with, foods can be carefully selected to develop a meal plan that will work for you.

A series of genes are screened with identified markers that are associated with seven highly researched areas of health and fitness:

  1. Nutrient Metabolism
  2. Cardiometabolic Health
  3. Body composition and Weight
  4. Food Intolerances
  5. Eating Habits
  6. Physical Activity
  7. Injury Risk

The testing does not diagnose disease but will provide information on whether you are at risk of a deficiency or condition if your diet lacks specific nutrients.

Things you can expect to find out from the test are:

  1. Whether your body has a lower than average resting metabolic rate – this can impact your ability to lose weight as fast as the general population
  2. Whether your body has an enhanced response to weight (fat) loss on a higher protein or fat diet
  3. Whether your body has difficulty in digesting starches and impacts your ability to lose weight when consuming a diet high in carbohydrate
  4. If you are at risk of having a lactose or gluten sensitivity (not diagnosis of celiac disease)
  5. If a high saturated fat diet is impacting your weight
  6. If you have an enhanced predisposition towards excelling in power and strength or endurance activities
  7. If you have an enhanced susceptibility towards obtaining an Achilles tendon injury
  8. If your body could be at risk of osteoporosis (low calcium) or anemia (low iron) if your current food choices aren’t providing an adequate amount of the associated nutrients.
  9. If your body metabolises caffeine efficiently or whether you are at risk of heart conditions if your caffeine intake is excessive.

This service is a chance for you to get the answers to all your food questions or assumptions that have been plaguing you for years. There’s no need to guess any longer, just get the answers and run with it.

Testing is simple and non-invasive. All you need to do is provide a saliva sample that gets sent off to the lab for analysis. You’ll receive the results within 4-5 weeks and translated to you in an easily implemented report. We can then develop a meal plan based on your results and start educating you on how to achieve a diet that’s right just for you.
