True to our food philosophy, our team shared a tasting menu at Bar H in Surry Hills Sydney for the 2017 Christmas party last December. With similar values in quality food and seasonal produce we were all looking forward to testing out the menu inspired by Japanese, Chinese and native Australian ingredients.


What we ate:

6 Course Tasting Menu:

Oyster, wasabi, yuzu

Line caught snapper sashimi, Davidson’s plum, amaranth, carrot, soy

Pork and Wagyu beef dumplings, sichuan chilli, mustard pickle

Nth. Qld. Barramundi, miso, lime, white radish

Wagyu rump cap, miso, sesame, sprouts with kipflers, sichuan pepper, salt

Honeydew melon, sake granita, passionfruit ice cream, saffron



There wasn’t a dish we could fault. Although there were some interesting combinations that surprised us and created new food experiences like no other. The toasted amaranth on the snapper added an element that made the dish notably memorable, as was the numbing mouth sensation created by the Sichuan pepper on the kipfler potatoes. I am known to be a ‘chilli wuss’ when it comes to hot & spicy ingredients, but this little number was balanced just right and surprisingly didn’t burn at all. We all absolutely loved it!  


Would we recommend: YES!

Although we sat down for a full dinner, there is the option to go and hang out at the cool bar area, either inside or out. Great place to go on a sunny afternoon with a work colleague or friend, grab a glass of wine and indulge in a few tasty share plates. Work your way through the menu before you start all over again when the seasonal produce changes.
